The Serendipitous Beginning

Agility’s inception is co-founders Cindy Solovei and Mimi Nguyen’s favorite story to tell. Their paths crossed when Cindy interviewed for Mimi’s previous job—a moment that would shape both their lives and the company. "Mimi and I really connected," recalls Cindy. Rather than taking the offered job at Science Media, Cindy found herself in sync with Mimi’s ambitions: building a consulting firm that empowers seasoned professionals to work with innovative businesses, all on their own terms. 

“Mimi reached out to me and said, ‘What do you really want to do?’” Cindy replied, “I want to start my own consulting firm where I can take my decades of experience and help others.” That mutual vision, the desire for partnership and willingness to leap into entrepreneurship, sparked Agility’s birth—a true case of serendipity.

Building a Legacy of Teamwork

Over the last decade, Agility’s focus has been as much on its internal culture as on its external impact. Mimi fondly recalls team events as some of her favorite memories, noting how crucial work-life balance was in creating Agility in the first place. "Cindy and I really started Agility in large part to help our work-life balance and eliminate some of the burnout that we'd experienced in our prior finance careers," she reflected. The firm’s environment provides not only sustainable career paths but also opportunities for personal connections and growth—a rare gem in the fast-paced world of finance.

For Cindy, even small achievements such as teaching a team member something new have been rewarding over the years. The pride that both founders feel comes not just from their financial accomplishments, but from taking the bold leap to build something meaningful from scratch: “No corporate paycheck, no hierarchy of support underneath, no health benefits—all these things that we gave up to go out and do what we love to do on our own terms,” Cindy shared.

Mimi, in turn, admires Cindy’s “marketing genius” and ability to forge strong relationships.
